Salmon La Sac
By the 1890s this area was a popular destination for prospectors and miners staking claims for gold, silver, lead, iron, nickel, and cinnabar. The mineral rush attracted French investors who founded the Kittitas Railway and Power Company in 1911. They immediately began construction of a depot at Salmon la Sac. The dawning of World War I caused the French investors to pull out, but they left behind the depot, which came into ownership of the USDA Forest Service as the Salmon La Sac Guard Station. The depot today is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
